Continuous Process Improvement

What is Continuous Process Improvement about?

Continuous (sometimes "Continual" is used instead) Process Improvement is at the heart of all recent initiatives including Root Cause Analysis, Business Process Reengineering, and Six-Sigma. It is fundamentally the same thing as "Kaizen", a Japanese word meaning Continuous Improvement. Central to this approach is the concept of seeing all work as a process where inputs from suppliers have organisational resources applied to them in order to provide increased value for customers. Systematic changes are made to these resources to bring about both incremental as well as breakthrough improvements.

Our Approach

Continual Process Improvement is the core specialisation of PRISM Consultancy International Ltd. The idea is beguilingly simple - exhort people to improve and they will. Unfortunately it is not so easy - organisations are full of short-term and "silo" thinking where people are rewarded for fire-fighting and this cultural mentality will stop Continual Improvement dead in its tracks! We believe that although Continual Improvement is absolutely essential for business success in the future it is no more than an aspiration unless key elements are in place to bring about the reality. The importance of these elements is often underestimated and organisations embark on a Continuous Improvement transformation only to see it fizzle out and fail because there has been the lack of knowledge of the issues that drive success. Among these are:

  • Knowledge of the key principles that underpin practical application
  • Methods and tools that are essential for a systematic approach

Our course, the PRISM Improvement Experience, provides the knowledge required to address all of the above key elements. It is the essential course to position thinking as managers consider how they are going to pick up the reins of leadership as well as equipping individuals and teams with the knowledge and methods required to carry out measurable and sustainable improvement interventions.
