Dear Ian,
As you know this workshop has been used extensively within the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), and I am writing to give you my feedback on the courses so far. The first thing and importantly, is that it works it has proved itself every time as a complete learning experience for Business Transformation. The feedback is always excellent, and the thinking and methods taught can be instantly applied to our business. I would be very happy to offer a testimonial to any business considering whether to use this teaching in their own environment.
Precisely what does it achieve for delegates? Well, it dramatically changes your thinking about a whole range of issues; measurement; real quality; value to customers; how organisations could work so much better; and how people could feel so much better about whom they work for, given a different approach to management and leadership that involves genuinely improving the system of work. It's a radical mindshift, especially in the new understanding of data, numbers, statistics, variation, targets, the tendency to read more into single figures than should be, and the potential for misrepresenting numbers and cheating.
The course was tailored to the VOSA business (we call it the "VOSA Sigma Improvement Experience"), whilst retaining the core principles. It is dynamic, enjoyable, and great fun. The case study running through the event allows immediate practical application of the skills taught in plenary, making it hugely interactive and real-time learning. It is accessible by all levels of staff in the organisation.
The course proved to be very different from what I was anticipating when I first experienced it. It addresses real business problems rather than just being all statistics and theory. I've had a range of successes implementing the PRISM approach: more accurate measurement of performance, a better understanding of the targets we are trying to achieve, better evidence with which to challenge the establishment, vastly improved processes across partnership groups that have been well used and documented, making further application and improvement so much easier.
The PRISM Improvement Experience is presented by expert consultants, who are flexible and adaptable to ensure a terrific learning event for delegates. It is great value. I have found that the PRISM licensing scheme allows for very cost effective deployment in a larger organisation and beneficial for a longer-term business relationship. It is great being a licensed presenter that has added a refreshing and different dimension to my job; this positions me in the business with continuity to follow on from the course, to mentor and coach colleagues in their application of the new skills to reach expert level.
